VHW/MCHW FP Refresher Training

No Scalpel Vasectomy Training - Reference manual, Trainers' Notebook & Participant Handbook (May 2006) - English version is available upon request.
This is a self-paced course, which should run approximately 12 days, with up to 5 days additional clinical practice at a high volume site or training site itself, to teach doctors how to perform NSV under local anesthesia. It is intended for doctors from a site where regular vasectomy/NSV services (i.e., one day a week at minimum) are already available or will be started immediately after the training is complete.

Minilaparotomy Under Local Anesthesia Training - Reference manual, Trainers' Notebook & Participant Handbook (April 2006) - English & Nepali versions are available upon request.
This is a competency based 12-day course, with 5 days additional clinical practice at a high volume site or training site itself, to teach doctor & nurse teams how to perform minilaparotomy under local anesthesia. It is intended for a team of doctor & nurse from a site where regular minilaparotomy services (i.e., one day a week at minimum) are already available or will be started immediately after the training is complete.

This is a 12-day course, to teach nurses/paramedics how to insert and remove (U technique) Norplant Implants with its components of standard IP practices and counseling. It is intended for nurses/ paramedics from a site where regular Norplant services (i.e., one day a week at minimum) are already available or will be started immediately after the training is complete.

IUCD Guidelines for Family Planning Service Programs Training: Reference manual, Trainers' Notebook & Participant Handbook (December 2002) - English & Nepali versions are available upon request.
This is a 12-day course, with 6 days additional clinical practice at a high volume site, for nurse and auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM) to teach them how to provide clinical IUCD services. It is intended for nurses and ANM from a site where regular IUCD services (i.e., one day a week at minimum) are already available or will be started immediately after the training is complete.

Comprehensive Family Planning (COFP) and Counseling Training: Reference manual, Trainers' Notebook & Participant Handbook (February 2003) - English & Nepali versions are available upon request.
This is a 13-day course, for Nurses, ANMs, AHWs or HAs to teach them how to counsel clients to make an informed choice for any family planning method and specifically how to provide condoms, pills and Depo Provera. It is intended for nurses and paramedics from a site where family planning services.

Family Planning, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Situation in Rural Nepal: A Mid-term Survey for NFHP II, Full Report
The Mid-term Survey 2009 for NFHP II was conducted to monitor change in the impact and outcome indicators of NFHP which included fertility and mortality rates, family planning, maternal health, newborn care practices, child health status, and maternal and child nutrition. The survey was conducted in the 111 rural clusters of 40 districts (20 NFHP CPDs and 20 control districts) with 3,932 households and 5,019 eligible women. These clusters were same as that selected for the 2006 NDHS and methodolgy used was also consistent with theDHS. Data from the Mid-term has been compared with the pooled data of 2006 NDHS drawn from the same clusters in order to monitor changes.

The overall objective of the mid-term survey was to assess the progress made by the Nepal Family Health Program (NFHP) in its program districts in obtaining its goals and objectives and to get recommendations for further improvement of the program activities.

Analysis of 2006 Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) Data for Rural Areas of NFHP II Districts by Rajendra Lal Dangol, 2008.
Nepal Family Health Program (NFHP) Phase II (2007-2012) aims to improve the delivery and use of basic public sector family planning, maternal, newborn, child health, and literacy/life skills services, in a manner that builds local capacity to provide these basic services.
The major focus of NFHP II is in the rural areas, therefore data analysis has been confined to the rural areas of the 20 CPDs. For comparative purposes, NFHP-II rural data has been compared with the rural data for rest of the 55 districts.
